After the success of Crawley’s Festive Lights and receiving positive feedback from Town Centre businesses and shoppers, Crawley Town Centre BID in consultation with Crawley Borough Council, has extended the length of time selected lights will stay on.
Better lighting at night increases safety for enjoying Crawley’s night time economy and the overall look of the lights has a positive impacts for businesses.
Crawley Borough Council selected Gala Lights as the preferred bidder to provide bespoke lights. The contract is for three years and is being funded by Crawley Borough Council and the Crawley Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID).
As stated at the installation of the lights, The Christmas lights can also be re-used as year round features which provides excellent value for money and a boost for businesses.
Gala Lights designs, manufactures and installs Christmas lights for BIDs, towns and cities throughout the UK. It aims to be a carbon neutral company by 2025 and uses LED lights that deliver up to 70% energy saving compared to traditional bulbs.
Wendy Bell, Manager of Crawley Town Centre BID said;
“When the Christmas Lights were first installed, it was clear there was a potential to use some of the lights all year round to improve the look and feel of the Town Centre as well as help people feel safer at night who use the many hospitality and event businesses we have in the Town Centre. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive”
